Ahhh Finally a DVD !!!!

All ya folks who were satisfied with the "pseudo-progressive" crap dished out by EROS/ VS/ SPARK should shut up for now and enjoy a DVD as it was supposed to be ! (Of cos the 2-in-1 lovers wouldnt care a dam... but who cares for them :D )

One more thing, did anyone notice this fact :-
DEI had/has the best trans-literation service when they author their dvds. The essence of the dialogue is presented quite exquisitely !

You do mean translation ofcourse....transliteration is when, as an example, you would write Hindi in the English script(since the original script of Hindi would have been Devnagari)....such as ....'Gaao na Maa', whereas what DVDs provide is a translation of the dialogue spoken....

Why should they shut up when you can't keep your trap shut for the screenshots of all other DVDs?

( u figure out who is who).. well ppl can surelyu take potshots at me for me criticizing the quality of pseudo-progressive , interlaced dvds... but the point remains ... my view vis-a-vis, progressive dvds always is the winner...and even you know that :)

Typically DEI DVDs suffered from excessive noise reduction, especially their old movie catalogue - this Yateem DVD is no different, even from static screen shots you can tell that edge enhancement and noise reduction has been applied excessively.

Everyone is entitled to their own view, and there is nothing wrong with voicing yours. There is definitely nothing wrong with criticising something bad. But you make the same old comment every time.

And if you expect people to accept your views, why are you telling the people who are satisfied with pseudo-prog DVDs (including myself) to shut up? I know a lot of people watch their DVDs on a normal TV - hence the interlaced or progressive output makes no difference.

I'm glad that at least there's another progressive DVD out. Even so, was this the best print BEI could get? When was this film made? The colors are pretty faded judging from the screenshots, and detail doesn't seem to be great. The line on the girl's chin in the shot below seems to be on every screenshot. Arsh, whaddya say?

Image

BTW, how's the film?

Arsh bhai, jagra ki koi baat hi nahi hai! I'm very happy with my preferences! As for growing up - aap to hain, hum bade kyon ho?

The DVD looks pretty typical of DEI transfers of older films - at least they've sorted out the sqaushy problem. What type of disc is this film on - is it gold?

It does make a difference.

Consider that if the same material was progressive, a 25% higher bit rate could have been accomodated in the same disc space (as 25% less fields are recorded; they are not needed). This definitely improves the PQ, be it viewed on Interlaced or Progressive se-up.
