[quote="Stephen"]Comparison shots from the PAL German DVD by KSM...

Image]

I ordered the german release off Moti Mahal and received this today, the quality of the dvd is really good even though you can see alot of grains on the screenshots there its not noticable on a 44" tv sitting the right distance away (3metres)

The downside to this dvd is that the 5.1 track is only available in german. The Hindi track is in 2.0 but is pretty clear and i would say better then the DEI soundtrack. One annoying this about the hindi track is you can't get rid of the german subtitles.

The includes trailers of other Shah Rukh Khan movies which include Badshah, Phir Bi Dil Hai Hindustani, Yes Boss and a few others, and the trailers are of the remastered DVDs that have been released and they do look pretty impressive.

If the likes of this KSM company can release good quality prints as this why can't the likes of Zeros and others???

I am really fussy about hindi movies having to be in the original aspect ratio but alot of these companies don't realise the importance to keep movies in the aspect ratio that the director intended and we have to live with that. But glad to see that there are a few companies that will release movies in this quality, not great but still better then Zeros.

huh? didn't see that in Stephens shots.
So if you play the German track, the subtitles disappear?

there are 3 soundtrack options, 5.1 german (without subs)
5.1 german with German Subs and 2.0 hindi with german subs

I processed the 2.0 hindi soundtrack through my amp to dolby pro-logic II and it added some depth but still not the same as 5.1.

The German subtitles can be removed if you rip the DVD with a program like DVD Shrink and then choose not to include the subs on the disc before burning it again.

time, effort, shrink, re-burn, quality loss, etc etc... the option should be able to remove the german subs as any other dvds that are produced from around the world, as crap as zeros are atleast you can remove the subs :-)

There's no quality loss using DVD Shrink if choosing not to re-encode. The subtitles can still be removed without affecting the video/audio.

The forced subs may be annoying, but it's understandable - these DVDs are not marketed towards a non-German audience. Just be glad the original Hindi audio is included at all. Some German Bollywood DVDs are strictly dub-only.

true, however was just pointing out the fact, to bad the newer movies such as khakee do not include 5.1 hindi track, want a better quality of that movie, but zeros is crap and cut
