Which titles? They could be fakes. I once rented a DVD of Bharathy made by a company called Dragon (no relation) which was terrible.

I'd really like to know which titles you are talking about. Please indulge us.

These are the titles I bought from THE MAHAL.COM. I never had a problem with mahal team before, so I am not going to say they made fake ones.

1) ICE - Never buy or watch it
2) Anjaneya - Stupidest tamil movie ever made
3) Alai - watch it for vivek's comedy scenes. Someone has to shoot chimbhu the monkey of tamil nadu.

All three movies were bad. the picture quality , and subtitles sucked all the way.

Ayngaran subtitles usually aren't very good. I haven't seen the films you listed, but some of Ayngaran's DVDs have excessive grain.

Personally, before I buy a Tamil DVD, I check out the film review from this Balaji guy. His reviews are consistent and seem to be good indication of how the movie is.

Lol! :D

Anjaneya's only good parts were Peter Hayne's fight scenes. I thought the fight choreography was better than 'Kaaka Kaaka'.
BTW, the DTS track is plagued with lip-sync problems.

Pillai raju :) man I do the same. Balaji guy really speaks a common mans mind unlike some stupid online reviewers. Usually his reviews with 2 stars or higher is pretty intresting to watch.

Ayangaran used to be very good with subtitles. I am not a tamilan so subtitles are very important when i watch a tamil or hindi movie.

How did ajay and vijay became superstars in tamil. Oh my god, ajith IS SOOOO IRRITATING, and can't act SHIT. He has a low pitched voice, and not suitable for macho guy roles.

Hey Guys,
Kuttappan and Pillairaj, I do read Balaji's reviews and they are awesome. I really click with this guy's reviews as all the films I have watched based on his reviews were exactly the way I was expecting them.
By the way, Anjaneya and Alai were one of the terrible bombs in Tamil cinema lately. I can understand not having consequent extras or even DTS on these films but Ayngaran shouldn't lower their standards on PQ as that is the main reason why we Asians buy DVDS, for the PQ (eventhough sound is not negligeable).

I thought I was the only one who has balaji reviews book marked :) Balaji Guys review sometimes matches my opinion abt the movie. He is pretty honest with his reviews.

Hello dred, yes those films bombed that BO, but that doesn't mean ayngaran can make bad quality DVDs. We spend our money to buy these craps, can it be at least a high quality print?

Tamilini seems to be taking a slice of the market and running with it. Their quality is on par with Ayngaran's best releases. They have had some good releases like Samy and the recently released Kadhal Konden which I thought was an awesome movie. It was very different for an Indian flick. Took them long enough to bring it to DVD though.

Tamilini dvds are good. But the recent ones like 'Thiruda Thirudi' suffer from grainy transfers.

Yea I do like Tamilini DVD's. Whats wrong with Pyramid man? they just suck. I hate to see pyramid has my favorite tamil movies in DVDs.

I was just checking out themahal for new releases. They have Pithamahan out. DvD is from Tamilini. BTW, they have LOC on their list but the price is 26 dollers. :( I guess they don't have any deal with hind movies or EROS.

I ordered Thiruda thirudi, and Kadhel Kondain from anytamil.com for the first time. That was like two months ago. Still they haven't shipped it yet.

Actually I ordered Kadhal Konden from themahal just to give them a try again. Got it pretty fast actually plus I was ordering like 6 dvds anyways so the shipping became free.

themahal is not a great place to buy hindi movies, I know. I do get Malayalam movies from them every once in a while.

If anyone wants screenshots of "Gandhinagar 2nd Street" in malayalam let me know. I'll post this weekend.
