My favorite Helen starer. Loved the wild picturization of Laxmikant-Pyarelal's Aa Jane Jaa. Unfortunately the only copy available of this in India is the crappy Ultra VCD which is heavily cut and obviously of poor quality.

Can anyone provide screenshots from the Apollo DVD of this movie which is OOP?

PS: Helen fans, you guys must check out the documentary titled "Helen, Queen of the Nautch Girls" which featured as an Extra in the Criterion DVD of Bombay Talkie (1970). Some screens from the documentary:

This movie was originally shot in Black & White. Both the Apollo DVD and the Ultra VCD release of this movie have been (badly) colorized. I doubt if there will be any proper restoration of the original Black & White print in the future. The best we can get for now would be the Apollo DVD with English subtitles but even that is rare as hell.

Sadhna's Inteqam was definitely definitely shot in Color. No doubt about it.

Firstly, it was the era of Color Films when making a B/W film was considered suicide.
(Film CC states 4247 meters, Color film)

And, this was Sadhna's home production and her Directorial debut. She (and her husband R K Nayyar) could never have even thought of B/W in those days.

Above SS could be from a B/W film print. In 60s-70s it was common to make some B/W prints of Color films so as to save costs. For example same film in color would cost (rental) Rs 600 and only Rs 150 for B/W print, for one weekend. I know it because I used to order films for our film club.

Intequam was defo in colour originally. No doubt about that.

Here is a good review including screenshots from a cleaned up copy of the VCD. If you scroll down to the comments there is a link where you can see the movie.

I was under the impression that it was colorized from the original B/W print.

Yes, I certainly do agree that it was the era of Color Films. But some directors would have still preferred to stick onto B/W (Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho was shot in B/W at a time when most movies were shot in Color).

Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Anupama (1966) was shot in B/W at a time when most of Bollywood had moved onto Color (Waqt and Guide released in 1965 were shot in Color).

Rajesh Khanna starer "Khamoshi" released in the same year as "Intaqam" was also shot in B/W.

I was wrong. From the link provided by Muz and the reminder from rana that this was Sadhana's first Home Production, I am inclined to believe that this was shot in Color.

The reason I thought it was B/W in the first place was because one of my relatives said he had been to the theaters to see this movie and vouches that it was the B/W print that he saw.

Maybe someone has a good quality VHS of these movies? I am also hoping to find complete prints of Inteqam and Ishq Par Zor Nahin - great movies with fabulous songs!

I do know that some theatres got hold of B/W prints if colour prints were not available. I recall seeing Suraj (Rajendra Kumar) in the cinema where the first half was the colour print and after the interval they used the black and white print as the colour print was missing the last few reels.

Sorry for the oversight. I mixed up Geeta Mera Naam with Inteqam.

Inteqam was not produced or directed by Sadhana. It was Geeta Mera Naam.

Inteqam was Sadhna's comeback film (after her illness) though. It's possible Sadhna & RK Nayyar may have invested or may have been major partners in Shaktiman Films, production company for Inteqam.
R K Nayyar did direct Inteqam.

Thanks

Movie was originally released in the cinema in Color. They did not color black and white films at that time.
