I really enjoyed this movie, but the DVD doesnt look up to standards. And plus people think its cropped, its not. The original AR is 1.85:1 and these guys have squished to 2.20:1 somehow

Theatrical OAR is not confirmed to be 1.85:1. See the movie thread on the same film.
Also see the censor certificate screenshot above -- "35mm cinemascope" -- implying 2.35:1.
I saw the movie in 2.35:1 at Satyam theatre Nehru Place, New Delhi.

It may simply be a case of opening up the matte.

According to the IMDB here:

It clearly states the film is 1.85:1. Also my local cinema even had a cinema print and clearly on the print it stated 'Aspect Ratio 1.85:1'

that's what the movie thread on zulm has been discussing -- that there may be multipe prints out there with different ARs -- as such OAR is not confirmed to be 1.85:1 -- IMDB is not the most reliable of sources -- don't bank too much on it -- also, I myself saw a 2.35:1 version -- so in my theatre, the AR was 2.35:1 :-)

Delhi 6 situation is same as Bollywood Hollywood. Please don't open the aspect ratio can of worms again. Frankly, unless you get an answer from a crew member who would know, it's no use going on and on about this.

I'm just glad the DVD is out so I can watch the film again.

A new edit of Delhi-6 (aka Delhi 6) with possibly new material would soon be available on DVDs in India from Excel Home Videos!

(Excel are re-releasing Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's films on DVDs -- Rang De Basanti, Aks, Delhi-6.)

Where did you get the info about the 'possible' new material, and what sort of material is it?

Bhaskar, that's all I have as of now. Apparently, the re-edited versions of Aks and Delhi-6 have been screened to standing ovation to select audiences/ festivals -- not sure reg exact locations, but yes, sure about the re-edits.
