it's the same as the earlier keep-case disc -- only the case has changed. do watch Lord Jim and compare that with this movie...

no Newdeep, if u look here:

http://www.zulm.net/modules.php?op=modl ... e=&order=0

Its looks like a VHS transfer. Plus the menus have changed and no special features. Plus the 5.1 sounds good!

5.1 sound? What, where, how? In spite of the fact that the theme of the movie demanded 70mm Six track stereophonic sound, or at the least Cinemascope/Panavision with multi channel sound, the movie was released only with mono sound and with 35mm academy ratio picture. Yash Chopra like most other producers/directors of that generation was technically challenged and in fact, it was only with ’Vijay’, that he finally made a widescreen film. Also, although the soundtrack albums of his movies had switched to stereo with ’Trishul’, for some inexplicable reason the music album of ’Chandni’ was released in mono only.

I know, the film originally was mono but this is remastered into 5.1! It sounds wonderful, I was shocked

Chandni audio was HMV or T-series? Both companies released several mono OSTs during that time...

Sengh_15, have you heard the 5.1 on the earlier Kaala Patthar dvd?

BTW, are YRF really doing new transfers? :?

Please could some one let me know that who has authorised these for YashRaj (You can check this on the back cover)

I think the old one will be authorised by the great SUPER DIGITAL
and the new one could be authorised PRASAD LABS India

As we can see, YRF have began to realise their mistake with their old DVD's and now have upgraded them twice as better

I've not a got a surround system to test anything out these days but from what I remember the 5.1 on the old YRF KP was pretty poor - can't even call it a 5.1 mix - it was the same mono channels pumped to all surround channels. If that's not the case with the new 5.1 mix then maybe they have remixed it again.
