The ecstatically-received K3G draws audiences from most demographic quadrants. The ploy of bunching three generations of stars, plus the clever ad line 'It's all about loving your parents' has paid off - at least, initially. The film opens to 100 per cent collections (an impressive Rs 13.1 lakhs) in Mumbai on the first day. In Delhi, 22 theatres open to packed capacity on the first day, while in Calcutta, K3G receives a cacophonic reception from the first-day-first-show crowds.

This treacle train attracts crowds like bees to a hive on its opening weekend. But the real picture of the film's eventual fate will emerge only a fortnight from now after the initial euphoria dies out.

Exhibitor Shyam Shroff, however, is already brimming with confidence. He says, "In Mumbai the film will be a bigger hit than Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It's one of the finest films ever made. The advance booking for the second week is as terrific as the first and that's a healthy indication."

You said it yourself. Lets wait for a fortnight before you start making claims of all time biggest hit etc.
Also, are you surprised at the intitial that the film has gotten? If not, then what's the big deal, since all of this was expected at the least.
One more thing, it seems really strange that all of a sudden you have appeared on this board and made 4 posts, all of which seem to be made towards one end only, that is to promote the film K3G. Therefore, if there is more evidence you have in support to your posts, then I suggest you provide them. That is if you really want us to take your posts seriously and to believe that your not just a 'troll' out to promote the film.

Although Variety Reports side is understandable, but it's still a shame that K3G weekly gross wasn't accepted. Because it could have well been a stepping stone for Bollywood in north america (the playground of Hollywood). And K3G opening up at a #10 position is a BIG thing for Bollywood films. It shouldn't be treated as an inferior issue. Regardless if its numbers were or weren't accepted for official documentation. I doubt that another bollywood film will ever open at #10 in North American Box office charts ever again (or it won't atleast for a long..long time). Unless if films like Lagaan or Mansoon Wedding go mainstream, than we have another possible chance real soon, but until than, i doubt that another commerical film like K3G will ever create such an impact.

i agree with u dvd collector.... i know there is still doubts on the authenticity of figures supplied by yashraj... it is unclear why the figures were doubted. But all said i am sure the film has taken a massive opening more than any other film.. this was the most looked fwd to film... and it would have taken the most money.... if only it could be proved officially it would be great.... for indian cinema overseas.... well on the bright side monsoon wedding being nominated for a golden globe is some better news.....

Is it not a shame that Monsoon Wedding was not entered as India's official entry to the Oscars? After all it stood a much better chance than Lagaan to be nominated and maybe even win. Lagaan however in my opinion does nto stand a chance to even be nominated.
