Can anyone comment on the quality of these DVD's? Are picture and sound the usual Ayngaran stuff? Are both in their original aspect ratio's, and anamorphic? And is Dum... in Dolby 5.1? What about Bombay? Is it at least stereo, or just mono?

And does anyone know if Kandukondain... will be released by Ayngaran in a new edition with anamorphic video in the near future?

Okay, that's it!!
Thanks a lot! :where: :where:

Bombay was originally mixed and released in the theaters with only a mono track :( Therefore my guess would be that the DVD would also be in Mono. And if they do claim it's 5.1 then my guess would be that it is one of them '1 channel mixed in all 5 channels' crap. Because I really cannot imagine them actually remixing the original audio stems for a real 5.1 mix.

Picture quality wise Dum Dum Dum is excellent, and with much details revealed. The audio is also brill! One worth getting.

Picture quality for Bombay, is reasonable, but some wear and tear dirt is seen in places. It is not disruptive but is noticable. Both audio tracks (Tamil and Telegu) is mono 5.1, as the film was originally released in Mono tracks.

Ayngaran have not ruled out a possiblity of re-doing the Kandukodian x2 anamorphic version, but they have stated that it is not a pirority for them, and it seems unlikely to be a 2002 release due to the high sales of the product. They feel that bringing a new version out will upset those who had bought the product.

But don't worry I am still putting the pressure on them to re-do this DVD as a special edition.
